 About SmoothByte

SmoothByte was originally created as part of an assignment for University in 2024. With this blog I hope to provide information about technology to everyday consumers in an easy to grasp way. From gaming to networking, I will provide coverage on all things tech related, new and old.

About the author

My name is David Patty and I grew up in Texas. From childhood I have always been interested in technology. I was born in the late 90s, where technology was growing rapidly. Cell Phones ditched the clamshell design, in favor of smartphone and touchscreen technology. Video game consoles came with more features and better connectivity with friends. Personal computers became faster and more available. Growing up in this time shaped me to be interested and fascinated by anything tech! I wanted to know how the devices worked. My first attempt at discovering the intricacies of technology was by deconstructing my old PSP. I was young and did not look at any prior videos so this was unsuccessful and my PSP was then dead. Later I decided to build a gaming computer because of my interest in video games. This is a simple task, and I was successful this time. I originally began college in pursuit of a computer science degree but later switched to information technology.

From my current course in TEC101: Fundamentals of Information Technology, I hope to gain a broad knowledge base on all things technology. I hope to build upon the knowledge I gained from my TEC:100 class, and further develop my technical skills in information technology. My goal with this class is to be able to obtain my IT Fundamentals Pro certificate so I may begin an entry level I.T position by next year.

After university, I have my sights set on working my way to a security analyst position, where I can provide security analysis to protect companies information. This has been my goal since starting University again, however recently while learning of networking, I found it interesting and may choose to switch to a networking career.
